WE WON YAH BOO SUCKS TO YOU FASCISTS!

I went to the polls today and successfully kept myself from punching right-wing nutjobs in the face. Everybody cheer! Everybody drink!

Your vote actually counted?

Just like the Australians, to get this whole democracy thing wrong.

You've obviously been misunderstanding the point of a job-search, then.

A proper job search will result in a job in which you can be independently lazy for the rest of your life.

Granted, it took me ten years to find such a job, and I only got it by applying "Step 1: post more often than ten normal people. Step 2:??? Step 3: Profit".

That may not be a path you can take.

That said, a proper R&D job can have you fiddling with the same twenty resistors and wire motors for the next 30 years... or staring at a blackboard, adjusting the terms on that last integral (only to always please call it Research!).

Well, I didn't want to bother fixing every detail in Z's post. Usually I'm staring at a whiteboard, sniffing the markers, pretending to prove theorems. I only integrate when I'm teaching calculus.

The only real way you're going to have anything resembling a pleasant experience posting to this nearly dead place, GotGoatMilk, is if you convince all of your friends (perhaps I'm being optomistic here) to start posting here, too. And then only talk to them, and ignore the rest of us.

Blind, but upbeat about it.

I'm not drunk, but I am ill. Similar feelings. Perhaps more generalized visceral hatred towards the world in the latter case.

Shit, I'm both.

Still, is 'optomistic' upbeat about your condition or hoping that the condition is better than it seems? As in "my mother was optomistic, yet she ended up failing her eye exam for her driving licence."

Otherwise, that is one deadly interpretation of the word 'optimistic'.
