Remember this guy? [bobbysboxofpain.com]

The guy that said that he would travel back from the future on August 3 and appear at the Empire State Building?

I have no idea what happened -- I was unfortunately in San Diego at the time. He hasn't seemed too keen on updating his site, either.

I think some conspiracy-laden speculation is in order.

Time Travel should be left to people who are already insane. If you ever actually analyzed Back To the Future II, you would realize that nothing in it works, there are seven different Martys thus created by the time paradox, all of which will lead you to a terrible head ache if you actually try and make some sense of orders and banished futures caused by the continual change of the time line.

However, some of us will no doubt try and accomplish this feat, I would thus recomend a jug of water and a Bottle of asprin.

He isn't updating his site because _I_ got the tattoo on my arm and turned up there intending to impersonate him. He saw me first and we had a fight because he didn't want me claiming that I was the first time traveller.

I kicked his arse and then held him down while all the people that had showed up to see him waited and waited, then left thinking him a failure. Now he is all miffed because he couldn't show anyone his tattoo.

Plus he didn't invest any money for himself now for his future self to bring back so he can't afford the hospital bills and his now self won't help him because the future him screwed it all up so badly.

Judge not? Oh. Well, all right.

"Not" is a very short word, which is a plus in many media. However, as I sit here thinking about it, when spoken it can sound a bit harsh. Of course, the harshness stands out more when you just say "Not" rather than placing it in a meaningful context, and really it does flow pretty well in most sentences and phrases that use it. It scores bonus points for being a fairly indespensible word within the English language, but its case is hurt by the fact that it shares a pronunciation with another word ("knot"). On the other hand, it suffers the indignity of frequent contraction without much complaint.

On the whole, I'd say "not" is a pretty good word, and almost certainly it hasn't gotten itself mixed up in analyzing Back To the Future II.

Excuse me while I tape this "kick me" sign to my back before I comment. What kind of idiots does he think live in this world. That story's not even good enough to be the plot of a bad "B" grade sci-fi flick that get's torn apart on Mystery Science Theater 3000! The least he could have done was humor the masses, but this crap... I feel dumber having read that.

This just keeps getting better and better.

Time Travel Dude is calling for a mass recreation of his experiment [bobbysboxofpain.com] on the upcoming August 3, 2002 (I hope Comic-con isn't at the same time again). He wants everyone to go out and get reminder tattoos and travel back in time on that day. Anyone up for it?

He's also set up a forum [bobbysboxofpain.com] for those of you who are interested in heading over and ripping him a new conversational asshole. I think it'd be funny as hell if you guys started asking him questions. Diseased, goatesque questions.

Oh, this keeps getting better and better.

Now, Time Travel Dude is claiming that the experiment was purposeful misdirection [bobbysboxofpain.com]. He didn't really do the experiment -- it was all a trick! He wanted to see if anyone would try to assassinate him or do nasty things to the experiment if he tried it.

By posting those sci-fi-ish fabricated results, he figures he's eliminated all the nay-sayers and only the faithful will remain.

The real experiment is still slated for next year (August 3, 2003). I love this guy. Be there!

I have to admit, I am fascinated by this individual's claims and intentions. I wonder if this is the sort of thing that eventually led to Scientology.
