Recipes Central! Share your favorite recipe or drink. I like these drinks: Liquid cocaine: this is one hell of a drink. Goes down rather rough. It is Rum, Rumplemintz, Jagermeister, Goldschlager mix Anything with Amaretto in it. I love Amaretto. Everclear-My god, its rough. Get very drunk, very fast. For those who don't know, Everclear is 190 proof (193 is poisonus). I like it though.

If you like that, go for the Four Horsemen: Jager, Rumple, tequila and 151. Tastes like peppermint. Really Really strong peppermint. With tequila.

You're not a real man for drinking Everclear. It's only manly if you ignite it on the way down.

That aside, my favorite drink currently is Gosling's Black Seal rum, in the 80 proof. Tastes like scotch mixed with molassas... mmm tasty!

personally, i prefer beer. IPA's or ESB's, the nectar of the gods, and the choice of kings. or not. anyway, beer is still my choice of poison.

Guinness.

Alternate choices: A Black and Tan if they have Bass, Blackened Voodoo Lager. Otherwise, water and iced tea.

Beer is good; I've only just recently started drinking Guinness, and it's still not my beer of choice.

In general, I like a good hefeweissen. The trouble is, there are really good ones and really bad ones. I used to drink Pyramid hefeweissen, but it's no longer to be found around here. OTOH, the one by Schlaffly just isn't very good.

Incidentally, I decided to use a Google search to confirm my spelling of hefeweissen; the second search result was Goats-related :)

Something simple: 1/2 Vodka (preferably smirnoff, cheap and good) 1/2 Straight red cordial. kind of a stripped down, beefed up fire truck. Best way to drink it is to literally suck it down.

Also a big fan of Australian beers (Tooheys Extra Dry my favourite at the moment, but I'm a CUB supporter mostly) and Guinness.

My google search for hefeweissen [google.com] suggested the "correct" spelling of hefeweizen [google.com].

Technically, I think they're both correct. weissen is from German for White, usually referring to the north German or Belgian wheat beers. This makes sense as many wheat beers do tend to be lighter, or whitish, in color. weizen is from the German for wheat and usually refers to the bavarian or "real" wheat beers. :)

It's perfect for sitting on the porch or patio on a hot summer evening. Just a couple though, you don't want to get one of the nasty whiskey drunks that end up with you in the street shirtless and yelling at the cops as they handcuff you while the neighbors point fingers at you and make accusations like, "He raped my garden gnomes!"

Err.. nevermind...

They're usually too sweet for my taste.

However, they're fantastic for dates.

Take your sweetie (or someone you would like to be your sweetie) to a bar that carries them and buy her a Lindemans Framboise. It tastes like raspberry candy. You will accomplish the follwing:

  1. You will finally show her that she does like beer, even if she thinks that she doesn't.
  2. You will impress her with your knowledge of foreign brews as you explain to her how lambics are actually made with wild, airborne yeast [merchantduvin.com].
  3. You will get her drunk as she consumes many, many bottles. It's like crack for women.

Well, something to rival Everclear would definately be Absente 151 proof. Yes I know it has a lower proof, but the "bonus" effects are what puts it over the top, assuming you can find this drink in the Greater US. This emerald Green ambrosia is served by pouring a shot (or two) over a small pile of sugar on a spoon suspended over a cup. If done right it should taste like an appealing version of black licorice.

Guess I have to keep buying the beer. :)

Ok, folks. I've had Bacardi 151. I've used everclear (tho never shot it straight). And I'll tell you something: doing shit that strong doesn't make you cool. It makes you a moron who got duped into drinking something really friggin' strong. Liking that kind of thing doesn't make you cool either. It makes you someone who isn't willing to admit you were duped.

100 proof is plenty strong enough and then some. But then I'm biased; I like to be able to enjoy my night of drinking (as opposed to being cranked to the point that I can't feel anything after two over-priced shots).

Plus, I've noticed I can get pretty well trashed on anything other than {beer | strong shots} and not get a hangover the next day. I think it has to do with the rate of alcohol intake.

I dont do it to be 'cool', trust me, I could care less. But, I found out that a higher proof gives you a kind of different stage of drunkenness. Its like the kind of drunkenness you want to do INSIDE your house, though, cause you dont want to make an ass of yourself. Its a good way to get really out there. Everclear burns badly going down, but after drinking it for awhile, you kinda get immune to the burn. Ill put it like this, Everclear is a drink for when you want to get very hammered and want it to stay like that for awhile, and you dont care about hangovers. Because it is 10x as rough coming up as going down. But saying I was duped, I wouldnt agree. 100 proof is fine, but unlike you, I am the kind of drinker that likes to get really messed up and sleep well. I enjoy that.

Actually on the weekend I picked up a 6 pack of Peroni Double Malt [peroni.it] for an obscenely overpriced sum. Mainly i got it because it looked interesting, I couldn't remember trying a double malt and, being a warm winters day, I felt like something a little lighter than the Sheaf Stout (very strong molasses flavor mmmm nummy) for during the day. It was nice. Almost no discernible hops in it at all which was quite nice for a change. Cold it was fairly bland but once it got up to room temp I was very happy with it (so long as I didn't remember the price).

In finding the url for the peroni I discovered that people drinking this beer are "real connoisseurs - they enjoy special and original things, are 'indomitably' curious and love to explore new and different ways of life, cultures and places." so I got cooler drinking it, unfortunately I found it is also a member of Phillip's arch enemy Anheuser. Ahh well.

Next time I'll buy the little creatures [littlecreatures.com.au] which is cheaper, much better (although a different style of beer) and is my recommendation to all who see it. I think it just won some international beer comp too.

My current two favorites when I'm not drinking beer: Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum with Vanilla Coke, and Singapore Slings (there are any number of different recipes for this, depending on who/where you ask... most common seems to be Gin, Grenadine, sour mix, and soda water... but some variations use cherry brandy, lemon juice, etc.)

I'm quite fond of vanilla vodka or coconut rum... I'm not a big beer fan (please! Don't hit me!); sadly, the only beer I've ever LIKED was "Beast"... you know, the cheapass stuff that's, like, two dollars for a six pack in the back of the aisle at the crappy grocery store?
I babble.

I would be the last to hit, and the first to duck with you. I don't like beer much either. I think it came from stupid teenage years of pounding it, and getting sick, now I can't drink it at all without getting nausous, it's unfortunate, because there are a great many delicious drinks to choose from, or so I'm told. I do however enjoy a good whiskey, not mixed... but I don't "drink for drunk" anymore, I drink slowly, and enjoy my beverage.
