On Friday, I doubled down on daughters.

I honestly am not sure what you meant, but my first guess was: holding a pair of queens during a game of poker (blackjack?) and you split them up, doubled your bet, then were dealt one more card on each?

If you were making some innuendo about group sex, i don't know how it could piss me off. If you were referring to something else entirely, please do explain so i can be in on your joke. Laugh at me for being too dense to guess.

And lately, it takes quite an effort to seriously piss me off. I've been a lot less prone to moodswings this year; and when i feel them, i'm actually aware of what they are at the time, and have been able to moderate by simply doing things like taking deep breaths and calmly saying rational things silently in my mind.

Oh, and maybe "T*" doesn't even refer to me. Perhaps that was a bit of terribly vanity on my part, assuming you meant "Tele*" as in "Teledildonix".

Do you play lots of blackjack? Or other card games? What about card games without involving any real money? I used to play Hearts, and in recent years i've enjoyed lots of Contract 500 and also Klabr.

When i play games online, i almost always play MahJong. One of the most complex versions of MahJong with Faan~Counting guidelines is known as 5Faan [jaral.org]. On the Yahoo Games tables of 5F MahJong in the Advanced [yahoo.com] room, i am the current record-holder for winning the most hands with Maximum Faan [jaral.org] of any Yahoo member ever-- twenty-five occasions in just over two years. I'm also the only person in the Advanced tables who has ever won a Fully-Concealed Limit-Hand of All-Honours [yahoo.com], and the only winner of a few [yahoo.com] other [yahoo.com] unique [yahoo.com] distinctions.

Ironically, i haven't bet a single penny on MahJong for over fifteen years. Do you think card games are more enjoyable when money is involved? Or are your preferences similar to mine-- i.e., preferring to only play for fun, for high scores and interesting winnings, with no real $ stakes?

Well, this was supposed to be a post in Story Time. As such, the subject line is supposed to be mostly ignored. But dammit if once a year I don't hit 'start a new discussion' by mistake. Might be the sleep deprivation.

Oops. Considering I knew a couple of months ago where you were doing your postdoc, I don't know what I was thinking when I googled "Durham birth announcements".

In any case, congrats to you and yours.

Congrats! Does this mean that you had twins, or that you had a second?

It's not really a goal, it's more of a fringe benefit. Go me!
