Internet for the blind?
posted Thursday, December 30, 2004 - 03:36 PM (#23779)
The computer at my work has gone large type; I assume for all of those people that have spent hours on the computer and due to this now have poor eyesight.

Actually, I think something's wrong with the computer. I was wondering if any of you would know about it. I'm just curious. One minute it's fine, the next it's the internet for the blind.

Need more details. Is it a PC or Mac, what operating system, is it just the web browser or all applications, what are you doing when the size changes, etc...

In Response to Rich (#23780):

The computer itself is an emachine, we have a 2wire DSL modem, Microsoft XP, Internet Explorer, and it's only the web browser. When you open up the internet browser it's set for Yahoo and everything is in large type. When I come to these forums the discussion titles are fine but the usernames are larger and so are the words "Plain Old Text" in the box next to the preview button.

I'm not really worried, I just thought it was interesting as I've never seen this happen before.

Check your font preferences for IE. That's the most likely culprit.

It's no use. He's been doing this to all the threads - for the most part. Either he didn't read the F.A.Q., didn't read it well, or read it well and is just a moron. I'm thinking it's the latter of the three.

Technically, 'latter' is a comparative between two options. For example: Given the choice between Humbaba and Eltoro, I would choose the latter - he posts on fewer threads.

If you're looking to select among three or more, you would want 'last.' This is pretty much the same as needing to change from the comparative to the superlative form of adjectives and adverbs when you go from two to three or more.

What the hell? I turn my back on you kids for a couple days, and the whole place goes right down the crapper and surfs the sewer.

Look, I'm sure you mean well. To the casual observer, this place may very well seem to be chock full of stupid. But it's a special kind of stupidity, and you simply haven't grasped it. Sit back and read for a while. Honestly, if you all don't straighten up right now, I'm going to turn this car around and go home.

Yeah, I was aware of that while I was writing my post but I wasn't sure if it was going to be a big deal or not. I thought about taking out one of the options; but then changed my mind - they all worked so well in my opinion. I'll get it right one of these days! *shakes fist*
