Franky, I just want to set up a poll cause I think it is nifty.

Um, lets see, how can I make sure this thread doesn't die. . .

Does anybody have a beer they like?

POLL: When I repsond to online polls I generally,

39% (13) Reply honestly

15% (5) Purposefully vote in a contrarian manner

6% (2) Am upset if I don't vote for the winning cause

18% (6) Pick the funny, quirky last choice

21% (7) Cover my head with salami slices
33 people have voted in this poll. (This poll is not active.)

Maybe you should ask what beer people have in the fridge?

I have Franziskaner Hefeweisse. I made bratwurst with it. It turned out well. Nothing like cooking and drinking.

Funny thing, I actually don't like beer.

Usually, I'd rather just drink some vodka, goldschlager, or midori.

In Response to Grimicus (#15014):

Yeah, I don't enjoy beer. This is why there are two ancient Coronas in my fridge that went flat in the bottle: my old roommate left them, and took his liquor. I'd much rather have it the other way 'round.

He also left an orange and a chocolate pudding. Of the three (beer, fruit, and Jell-O knockoff) only the pudding has been eaten. I'm not quite sure what this says about my eating habits.

I have Red Hook blonde (dissapointing), Long Trail Double Bag (high alcohol), and Paulaner Heffe in the fridge right now. And it's friday, so they most likely won't be lasting much longer.

hey a beer thread! i was just thinking about this last night. see, my ex-boyfriend (previous to killing a big piece of my soul) convinced me that i should drink beer, because its good.

however, all i drink right now is kokanee. i am aware that as beers go, this is probably not very hight on the list. but i like it. it gets my by.

what i'm wondering is what beers you people might recommend to a girl just starting on the road to beer pedantery. i want to be aware of beer. i want to be able to discuss beer in an intelligent manner. but mostly i just want to drink stuff that tastes good.

help?

I really needed to be able to vote for two options here.

Beer is good. I like beer.

It amuses me that, as of this post:

1) the same number of people say they pick the quirky last choice as actually picked the quirky last choice (but we know it's not the same 3 people), and

2) there's 1 vote for getting upset about not voting for the winning entry, putting that category dead last.

In Response to goat_girl (#15019):

What beer styles do you currently like? That steers us into some directions that may be helpful.

Myself I'd recommend poking around on ratebeer.com [ratebeer.com] and looking at high rated beers for particular styles that you know you already like (your kokanee doesn't seem real popular, mind you lagers will always be fairly low raters on average).

This [ratebeer.com] is some good stuff, for being made by Moosehead, it's always a favorite over at this end anyway. I'm not sure if you can get it out your way, and it's a seasonal beer but if you'd like we could swap cases when they bring it back out this year, as long as you don't send me a case of kokanee...
