Cranky Quebecers.
posted Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 03:50 PM (#14201)
Recently, Conan O'Brien [nbc.com] came to visit us here in Canada, and did a couple of funny shows with big-name guests in Toronto. While there, a regular of the show, beloved by millions : Triumph the Insult Comic Dog [nbc.com] (Who I think should be an honourary member here at Goats) visited the people of Quebec and made fun of them with the aid of a translator as a sketch. Now the Moderators of NBC's never-used Message boards have announced they are dumping the over 29 pages of threads [nbc.com] that must have at least 1000 posts all about Quebec and Triumph's visit. What gives? can't NBC take the heat?

I actually watched the sketch in question, and being a Canadian who is bilingual, I thought it was very funny, and only one participant in the sketch got offended most of them were greatly amused as it was intended. Anyway this is just another story about Quebec and their unique take : anything they think the can make a stink about, don't get me wrong, i've got family from there, and I love `em but they're Quebecers nonetheless. (Sigh.)

Another fine example of a few small-minded Quebecers making the rest of Canada look like jerks.

I just read that story and had considered making a thread myself. I find it very amusing that people took offense to a sketch by 'Triumph the Insult Comic Dog', who's intention to insult and offend is clearly spelled out in his name. What the heck were they expecting?

Oh, yeah, and NBC is a bunch of wussies too. They run around trying to apologize for the one show they air that has any entertainment value whatsoever, and isn't another piece of mainstream garbage, for one of the things that makes the show entertaining. No wonder TV sucks.

I think anyone that lets themselves get riled up by a rubber dog puppet needs to get some perspective, and quick.

I think it is just people that post on the net about how they are riled up by a rubber dog that need to get some perspective. Real men hunt the dog down and skin it to make an elegant raincoat.

Then they post about it on the net.

I don't know anyone who knows what Quebec is that thinks they really have anything to do with Canada. This view is shared by most Canadians and Quebecers, I've noted.

Personally, I think that dog is irritating.

But anyway, people need to stop taking themselves so seriously.

Yeah, I saw that show and i thought it was quite funny. I personally don't understand what the fuss is about.

It's not as if the dog showed tit on live national television or anything.

Way to jack the thread guys. But seriously here, we are talking about a rubber puppet on a late-night talk show, not freakzilla thrilla's sister and as was pointed out by Yoshi, it's not like Triumph exposed himself on national television, he just did what he always does, found something funny.
