as in coolitude, wordatude, wrongitude [goats.com]

I have been seeing it all over the place and more more frequently on *gasp* the board!

thoughts? opinions?
does it denote lack of culture? or a tap into the changing pop and sub culture?
discuss.

Right, sorry. I haven't heard someone use "tude" in a long time, but in my opinion, it denotes a lack of intelligence more than culture.

Speaking of a lack of intelligence, I heard someone actually say "L-O-L" the other day. There were so many emotions and feelings at the time, I couldn't do anything but sit there in awe. Erm, does this detract from the subject also? Sorry, I have a short attention span.

Don't apologise. You did give the original subject all the attention it required...

GTFO?

A few possibilities:

  • Get the french onions
  • Go to Franklin, Ohio
  • Give Tyler five octopi
  • Grill the fresh okra
  • Guess the full occupancy
  • Get tickets for opera
  • Grow the fragrant oranges

Humbly submitted...

Just for clarification. Is there any particular reason to post three times to the same discussion in less than nine minutes?

I don't mean to be an uber buttmonkey here but I'm just checking to see if I need to get the bat and a dead horse.

One valid reason is to post separate responses to separate parties (e.g., the three messages were apparently addressed to Teledildonix, to the forum as a whole, and to Phobos).

Another reason is because people around here often appreciate short posts (and have been known to ridicule or berate long ones), so sometimes "brevity is the sole of etc."

Another reason, such as in this post here, is because people like me sometimes fail to speak everything on their mind, then wish to add a tiny bit more. In this case: i don't think you're an uber buttmonkey. I think you had a valid question that deserved a meaningful answer.

There's nothing inherantly bad about making several short posts, if each post has a point, they aren't redundent, and it makes sense within the structure of the discussion. In fact, sometimes it's a Good Thing[tm] to do, because it avoids things like replying to one comment and addressing a point in a different one (which makes the discussion harder to read).

Personally, my guideline for whether I think a posting behavior is "bad" is: does it make the discussion (or the forum as a whole) less enjoyable or harder to follow and read? If so, it is bad.

For example, replying in a discussion and posting something totally off-topic when you could just start a new discussion. That would be bad.
