About The P3P Transmogrifier
- This application allows you to create human-readable equivalents of a site's P3P policy. P3P files spell out the privacy policies of the site they're on. For an example, take a look at the P3P policy for our site as viewed through the transmogrifier.
- Policies viewed here are not an official version of the site's Privacy Policy, they are merely a attempt at an English language representation of their P3P policies. To view a site's official privacy policy go to that site.
- This is based on the code for the W3C's P3P Validator. After validation, I added the step to translate the P3P into English. What's here is also not condoned, sanctioned, or in any way connected to the W3C or the P3P working group. It's my own project, and they aren't reponsible for it in any way. Any problems, mistakes, disagreements, etc. are all my fault.
- To learn more about P3P, you can read the P3P Specification, or read Lorrie Cranor's book "Web Privacy with P3P".
- If you want to generate a P3P file for your own site, I recommend IBM's P3P Policy Editor. When you're done, don't forget to validate it!
